Here's a fun and rare bit of news -- we're announcing FarBridge's next video game! And the twist: we're starting with Kickstarter!
I’ve always been a big fan of Kickstarter – you’ve probably seen me posting links to friends’ projects over the years: games, comics, movies, and more. I’m proud to have backed over 100 Kickstarters over the years, and the time has finally come to launch a project of our own!
Job Simulator: Human Relations is a game we’ve been developing with our friends at Owlchemy Labs – a new game set in the same universe as their VR games, but for the first time, it’s a flatscreen game on Steam. No VR headset required! (We considered naming the game after “pancake mode”, but that was probably too much inside baseball.)
The most exciting thing is that this is an all-new game. It’s not a port of the VR game to flatscreen, it’s a 4 player co-op game with local and online multiplayer. We’ve got the game to a fun stable spot, and we’re using Kickstarter to both raise funds for the completion of the game, and to recruit a large community of playtesters.
Our approach has been similar to what we did for Homeworld: Vast Reaches, which was a spin-off game going the other direction, taking a beloved PC game franchise and making an all-new VR game. We’ve learned a ton from both projects, and we like to think we’ve kept the spirit and humor of Job Simulator with an all-new camera perspective, controls, and gameplay.
Announcing a new game is always a lil nerve-wracking, and today’s Kickstarter launch is no different. We’ve poured lots of love (and more than a few of our own dollars) into this game, and now we’re asking y’all – our friends, family, and fans to get involved. We’ll be doing extensive community playtests, and backing the project reserves your spot to play the game early, and gets you Steam keys when it launches!
If you’ve enjoyed the games FarBridge and I have worked on before, we’d love your support! Help us share this announcement with your friends and communities. And if you can afford to pre-order the game on Kickstarter, that would be awesome too. I’m told early backers add momentum and really help “the algorithm” spot our game.

It’s already been quite the journey getting the game to this spot, and the next time we meet up I’m happy to tell you more about it. As the game industry continues to change, we remain confident that games can be a force for good, bring friends and family together, and give us a laugh in the face of everything literally being on fire.
Thank you so much for checking out Job Simulator: Human Relations! I’ll see you in the comments! [famous last words]
Aug 21, 2026 Update
Whoa, whoa, whoa! Why is the Kickstarter section crossed out?
Here’s a quick summary video on YouTube:

Well a crazy thing happened when we launched the Kickstarter. One of our fellow game studios here in Austin, Enduring Games, stepped up to invest in the game and help us finish the remaining work to bring Job Simulator: Human Relations to Steam. So we’re refunding the pledges and shut down the Kickstarter.
We’re now turning our focus back to development and playtesting! We will be giving our Kickstarter backers early-access to the game and playtests so if you backed the project, go check your email for your invite. And we’re also inviting the public to playtests too:

Our announcement went well, and we succeeded in unexpected ways. I can’t think of a more 2026 outcome than that!
Thank you to EVERYONE who’s worked on this project thus far, and big thank yous to all my friends and family for supporting the campaign!
More soon!
